Professional

One of the youngest players in MLS, Capano shows great promise. He made his MLS debut in 2002, but did not see much action for the Fire. Capano continued to brush up his skills playing with the U-18 and U-20 National Teams. Represented Chicago in the round of 16 and Quarterfinals of the FC Champions Cup and third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Became the second youngest player in MLS history at 16 years, 9 months, and 28 days in 2002 when he debuted as a sub on 5-4 @ DC for Fire captain Peter Nowak. The Fire drafted Capano in the second round (17th overall) of the 2002 MLS SuperDraft ... 2002: Played in four matches for the Men in Red in 2002 with one start, tallying 92 minutes. Represented the Fire in both rounds of FC Champions Cup Play and the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ... Joined his Nike Project-40 teammates for a six-game tour of Germany and Holland in November ... Started and played 72 min. on 7-17 @ MIL in the 1-0 loss in the Third Round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup ... Came in as a second-half sub on 7-7 vs. COL, playing 11 min. and helping Chicago to a 2-1 OT win ... Started and played 45 min. on 7-4 @ COL in a 3-2 loss ... Started and played all 90 min. on 6-30 @ Morelia in the Fire's 0-2 loss in the first leg of the FC Champions Cup quarterfinals ... Played 80 min. on 6-18 @ Indiana helping Chicago to a 2-0 exhibition win ... Entered the game on 6-8 @ LA in the 61st min. as a substitute for Amos Magee in the Fire's 1-0 loss ... Spent time in January of 2003 training with the U-18 team in California. The U-18's compiled a 1-1-1 record against various 1984 Region Teams. Capano scored the lone goal for the U-18's in a 3-1 loss Jan. 3 vs. Region IV. Joined the U.S. Under-20 National Team for its year opening training camp in San Diego ... Played with the U.S. Under-20 squad for a tournament in Valencia, Spain from 8-19 through 8-30 in 2002 ... Scored five goals for the U-18's in various competitions in 2002 ... Was the youngest member of the U.S. roster for the FIFA U-17 World Youth Championship in September 2001 in Trinidad ... Started all three matches for the U.S. in that tournament, which began only three days after the September 11 terrorist attacks on the United States ... Finished his Under-17 career with 93 appearances (80 starts), one goal and four assists in 24 international matches, and nine goals and 16 assists overall ... As the youngest member of the U.S. roster for the CONCACAF Qualifying tournament, scoring his first international goal at the U-17 level against Canada on 4-20-01 ... Made a team-leading 54 appearances (45 starts) for the Under-17s in 2000 ... One of sevenU-17 players to tally 10 or more assists in 2000 ... Joined the Under-17 Full-Time Residency program in Bradenton, FL, in 2000 ... Played with the Under-16 National Team in 1999 and 2000 ... Selected for the 1999 Under-14 National Team camp.
